What do you think of text language? Is it convenient or irritating?

Question:What do you think of sentences made up of words like....
'gd' instead of 'good'
'd' instead of 'the'..
'2' instead of 'to'..
etc..

... I personally find it irritating but what do you think and why?

Answers:
it's bloody annoying. i can cope with the odd '2' and 'u' etc. but it's getting silly now. i can't understand the majority of text messages, they take serious code-breaking skills to decipher. and it's not just text messages, kids at school are using this kind of bollocks in their writing too.
funny story, i was on a summer school with some kids and they had to fill in an evaluation form. one of the questions was:
'how could we have improved the course?'
to which one kid answered:
'U C*NT' meaning 'you couldn't'.
i realise that this word will be deleted by yahoo but i'm sure you can guess the missing letter.
