In a Edinburgh hospital, the cleaning staff have been told that they are not allowed to ask for a mop POLE, instead they have to ask for a mop SHAFT , this is to save offending our growing Polish community. Fair enough, but what would you call a POLE DANCER? a SHAFT DANCER doesn't sound right does it? in fact there are lots of words or phrases in the English language that uses the word POLE, what are we to do? I bet you the Polish people are not even worried about it, its just the stupid councils who don't have anything better to do so they come up with all these stupid new rules. What they don't realise is that they are making people very bitter towards our visitors!

The silliest I heard was in America. I used to work with people with physical disabilities. I went on an exchange visit to California and went to a unit housing the 'Differently Able'.
I am very conscious of using terms that do not denigrate or offend...but this is just not true. Human beings do have different capabilities and abilities...but disability does not confer them!

I thought it absurd the first time I heard it, and -- surprisingly -- it has survived: snowperson. I concede one doesn't hear it often in August.

the best i have come across was the need to change ba ba black sheep to ba ba rainbow sheep? what is up with messing with little kids heads, seriously there needs to be a shake up and people need to realise you cant please everyone all the time, and frankly if people get offended by a nursery rhyme well they are just head cases anyway!!
