What's the difference between two expressions?

Question:'Talk to you later' ' Talk to you soon' are they different especially when you see at the last sentence in an Email?
In this case, 'soon' doesn't mean exactly what I think( like one week or so)?
I'm learning English, I hope you could help me with this.

Answers:
Both expressions essentially mean the same thing--they are just two ways of conveying the same idea. You are correct when you say that they are not meant to be interpreted literally--in these two statements, "soon" and "later" are just being used as "figures of speech." Both expressions are ways of saying "goodbye" in a letter or e-mail. They provide an ending to the message, and let you know that you can expect to hear from the sender again (although how soon this will be is not clearly stated).
