Why is the English keyboard in the order its in ? Does it have any specific order?

Question:Its not in alphabetical order, nor is it in the order of the vowels...is there any specific order ?

Answers:
The qwerty keyboard was designed for mechanical typewriters. If you typed two nearby keys in quick succession, the machine would jam. The keyboard was designed so that most English words are a mixture of letters from both sides of the keyboard.
I believe it was from when typrwriters were used. They used to be in alphabetical order and people became too fast at typing which caused it to jam. The letters were rearranged to slow the speed of typing.
There is. It's called the "qwerty" keyboard for the order of the keys on the top row. It's a historical artifact. Early mechanical keyboards jammed if one typed too fast, so the most used keys were spread out or put where they were harder to reach to make people slow down. We still use it just because it's what everyone is used to, even though keyboards don't jam anymore. There have been attempts to introduce new systems, but they've never caught on.
The name is called QWERTY. Do an online search using the word QWERTY in call caps and see what you get.
i have been told its in an order that you are most likely to type a word, if you look, thousands of words are on there, as in the letters are close together for fast typing. if you get what i mean. e.g. rest, was, saw, kill, they're all next to each other.
When typewriters were first in use the keyboard was laid out in alphabetical order. The keys would stick together as one returned into position and the next key was on it's way up.
The qwerty layout that we use today was worked out so that letters that are used the most are far enough away from each other to prevent them colliding and sticking.
I think it's in the order of the letters the English language uses most often.
The order is QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKLZXCVBNM. I think it's because that's some of the easiest pathways to the most common English words. If you're typing the name Samantha, you go (from the S)-backwards, diagonal, diagonal going up, diagonal down, diagonal up, diagonal down one row, and then backwards to the a.
The 'qwerty' keyboard was actually designed to slow down typists so that the keys didn't jam.
This makes nonsense of the so-called German keyboard - 'qwertz' which replaces the 'y' with a 'z' because 'z' is used more frequently than 'y' in German.
I once had the misfortune to be obliged to use a keyboard which was supposed to be French - the first 6 letters on the upper row of alphabet keys were SWERTY if I remember rightly - it's a long time ago. Whatever, it has no rhyme or reason and turns keyboard input into a nightmare for people who travel the world.
The thing about the qwerty keyboard being designed to prevent keys from jamming is a myth. Look up "qwerty myth" in a search engine.
it is based on how common each letter is in the language, and then the letters are placed out so that the common ones can be easily reached. notice how the Q, W, Z, X and P are a little off the beaten path, so to speak. they aren't all that common, so they aren't in the middle of all the other letters, that appear in the language more frequently.
its simple the man who invented the typewriter a mr qwerty uiop put his name on the top line.his wifes maiden name asdfg hjkl on the middle row .his son zxcv and daughter bnm on the bottom row.hope this helps.
