What is the meaning and origin of the name Hezia?

Question:I have discovered a Hezia in my English family tree. She was born in 1807

Answers:
As ukquilter mentioned, kezia is a biblical name that found some limited popularity around that time. I don't know your source for finding your ancestor, but there were many cases of names being recorded incorrectly due to a clerk unfamiliar with the name just guessing at someone's poor handwriting. The Hezia/Kezia dynamic may stem from that.

Here's a link to something I found of somebody who had a very similar problem. Best of luck in your searches.

I can only find an old English name, Kezia, which was popular with the Puritans in the 17th century. It's from the bible and means 'cinnamon' in Hebrew. Nothing under K.
