On MSN and other chat appliances it's a shortcut to create an animated smiley, with it's tongue sticking out. You'll see it alot on forums/chatrooms pretty much anywhere on the internet! Some do not change to animations, so you have to use your imagination a bit. But nevertheless, some smiley's are very clever! I prefer to use = equals sign for eyes instead of : colon. Some people use the square brackets [ ] for mouths, for example, =] happy. Or =[ sad. See? Have fun playing around with them ;D xx
