What does the word "taboo" mean??

Question:i heard dr. phill talking about it one day on his show and didnt understand what he was talking about when he was explaining it.

Answers:
"Taboo" means "frowned upon or prohibited by society as unacceptable." Something that is taboo is considered off-limits for public discussion. The word can be used for any forbidden topic or practice.

Though Dr. Phil wasn't referring to this, Taboo is also the name of a board game wherein a player must describe an object (adjective, etc.) without using a list of certain forbidden words.

The word "taboo" originally comes from a Polynesian language.
