what language does the word "punani" come from?

Question:

Answers:
Punani (also punany) is a vulgar slang term for vagina or vulva. The source of the term is presently unknown, but its origins are generally attributed to Carribean patois, possibly from the Tamil pundai. Some contend that it is derived from pudenda, a Latin synonym for genitalia from pudēre, meaning "to cause shame", and thus referring to something of which one should be ashamed. Punani may be the origin of pum pum, a slang word for vagina or women in the Rastafarian culture.

Others have suggested that punani may be related to poontang, a vulgar word for sex, women, or the vagina, whose etymology is also disputed. Poontang is often believed to come from one of the West African languages, perhaps Limba puntu or Bantu mu ntanga, or perhaps the South African pundu, from Xhosa impundu. [1] Others suggest an origin in Tagalog puta, and a phrase Putang ina mo, meaning "Your mother's a *****". The OED's earliest citation of poontang is in Thomas Clayton Wolfe's Look Homeward, Angel (1929), a novel set in the American South. The OED contends it probably derives from the French putain, meaning "prostitute". Punani is also Hawaiian for "Heavenly Flower" and is sometimes used there as slang for female or female genitals.
