Sir or madam, depending on their gender.
yes although some ppl don;t mind
That depends on whether you want to piss them off or not.
Erm not necessarily. Not all black people are from Africa you know. A lot are from the West Indies and lots of other places!!
A person from the West Indies might be offened at you calling them African
why can we not say 'black' thats what they are,as i am 'white'
Just African.
It's kind of hard to say. Not all African Americans are keen to being called that. My husband for instance rather be called black than African American. It's a tough call. It depends on the person.
Not if they are brittish black the correct term is where ever they are from ie a black man from zimbabwe is zimbabwean
try black, stupid!!..im black...and i aint from africa or america!
i think it depends on the persons roots you couldnt call someone from jamica african american it could get a bit complacated coz no one wants to offend anyone well i know i dont put in this way whats the correct term for someone who is white there is no correct term we are all individual
why avaunt they got a name like you & me?
my mates name is collin.
If the person is African American then that is the correct term to use.
If the person is Just African then you just call them African.
They are male or female; man, woman, boy or girl; or Sir or Ma'm.
What if they are not in America? You have got to think globally.
Gentleman of the shade.Or lady with a very deep tan.
I would say black. I dont see why people call them "African Americans" when most of them have never ever been to africa much less born there. And although the lazy ones you could possibily call them a "******", you might get killed. =)
COLOURED, OR OF ETHNIC ORIGIN HOPE THIS HELPS.
Sir, Madam depending on there sex.
If you are in the United States, it is African American. But if you are in the UK or something, it is just black. It's funny when Americans go to England and call black English people African Americans. lol
You could call them your chocolate .MMMMMM I love chocolate
Nothing wrong with saying black if thats all you mean. On job applications they ask you to state your ethnic origin and they use black.
Black is the correct terminology.
Coloured is not accepted, neither is negro.
My mate is black, and i call him black, but his black friends call him *****! Doesnt make sense.
blackie always works for me
Black, plain and simple.
Mr Mrs Miss john susan der
black yo, i mean what do white people wanna be called and call themselves? aint caucasian. and no i would never call a black a ****** or a negro thats just fucked up
it actually depends on the person
They prefer their name.
"General term" if American American,if African African.
Or what ever country they are from.
i don't think the term African American endears you to them.
Ignore whatever they call each other cause they seem to have special license.
Please don't talk about people like items, which is all political correctness does. If you are going to describe someone, use an accurate reference, not one that's P.C.
If asked, most black people will describe themselves as "black".
VERY few will call themselves "African American".
Just a note to those of you who practise this junk. The only people offended by calling a black person "black", or require people to call indiands "Native Americans" are white people. That's right, the rest of the world could care less. In fact I'm 1/2 Native American, so as a "Native American" I officially give you all permission to call us indiands. Go for it, the only people you will possibly offend are liberalistic fools in Boston.
if you want to be a politically correct suck-up (or you are writing a paper for school) then yes, it is African American. But black people (catch that?) call themselves black and aren't offended if you call them black. My friends who happen to be colored say they are more offended when people call them African American. You can call them "colored" if you want. It sounds kinder, but both are acceptable.
Why is it that black people have 400 names for being black but whites only have white? (No one is afraid of hurting someone's feelings by calling them "white"...) The proper name for white people is caucasian, but aside from forms and paper work, where do you see that?
My point is that what you call different races in the USA shouldn't matter (unless it is a bad word)... We're all Americans and that's what counts.
Hi I AM NOT BEING RUDE BUT IF THEY ARE BLACK THEN THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE AS THEY DO NOT LIKE BEING CALLED COLOURED AND IT IS WHAT EVER IS ON THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE AS SOMEONE MAY BE BORN IN BRITON FROM A BLACK MAN AND WOMAN SO THEY WOULD BE BRITISH WOULDN'T THEY?
