Writing lines.
Cruel and unusual punishment.
in my day it was called "punishment"
Ask Bart Simpson!
"Lines" is likable lingo.
When I was at school, we called that: "lines."
You see Bart Simpson doing lines on a blackboard at the beginning of every episode, my favorite being: "It is not possible to eat shorts."
I can't tell you how many times I had to do this. I grew up in England and lines used to be a common form of punishment to pass the time during detention. For example: "I must not talk in class," or: "I must not touch Mary Hopflinger," or the worst: "I will never again play the ukulele in class and distract Miss Sandifer's Home Economics class next door."
100 times!!
redundant!
Seriously, what do you learn from doing this? it's pointless!
But when i had to do it, it was just called "writing sentences"
Teacher: "(My name here), do you want to write sentences afterschool?"
